Luan Xueyan believes that: her works have nothing to do with "concepts", but only acertain "recognition" of joy that is completely spontaneous when she is on the scene. Most of Luan Xueyan's paintings are derived from her sketches created during her stay in the countryside. She is fascinated by these trivial objects and landscapes that carry the breath of daily life, and approach (however, never able to reach) these self-contained aesthetic experiences with respectand awe, before matching them with the expression that belongs to the matter it self.

She had a solo exhibition'With Who'at C5 Art Center in Beijing in 2011; a solo exhibition 'Hell Is Other People' at Formentini Gallery at Milan in 2008; a solo exhibition 'Small Landscapes' at Meiyuan Gallery in Beijing.
