Park Jungkeun is a visual artist working primarily with photography and video. Starting from experiences of migration and movement, he explores the intertwined relationships between human and non-human entities, places, and events. Based mainly on Jeju Island, his work also engages with Korea's modern and contemporary historical events, ocean currents and drifting, as well as changes in the ecological environment.
His work does not attempt to fix specific events into a singular historical representation. Instead, it focuses on experiences that are continuously reconstructed through movement across time and space. Photography and video serve as media that record processes of movement and relation, building a field in which personal narrative, collective memory, and multiple layers of objects and places intersect. His practice reveals invisible connections and tensions, proposing a renewed way of perceiving place and existence.
