Artist Residency

Since its establishment, Leo Gallery has been consistently dedicated to actively discovering and nurturing young contemporary artists from both China and abroad, while providing substantial support for their career development. Over the past decade, Leo Gallery has continuously implemented artist residency programs aimed at offering creators professional studio spaces and localized resources, fostering in-depth dialogue and exchange among diverse cultures. The Leo Gallery Residency Program successfully held its first open day event at the Zhujiajiao Studio in 2019. After years of development and spatial evolution, the gallery now operates two residency spaces, committed to providing creators with artistic spaces and localized resources while promoting dialogue and exchange among diverse cultures.

The Leo Gallery Minhang Taishang Creative Park Residency Space includes accompanying living facilities and accommodation rooms. Located at the heart of the Greater Hongqiao Transportation Hub, the Taishang Creative Park is just an 8-minute drive from Hongqiao Airport and Railway Station. The park encompasses approximately 53,000 square meters of planned art space and currently houses the Sijue Art Museum and Space 109 Art Space, continuously developing into a distinctive and influential art district.

The Leo Gallery Xuhui Residency Space is situated in the Ferguson Lane, adjacent to Leo Gallery, and consists of a heritage house studio and an accompanying one-bedroom living space. Located in the heart of the former French Concession, the residency is surrounded by abundant commercial and cultural resources. It is a 15-minute drive from the West Bund, Shanghai's largest cultural and arts district, providing direct access to the West Bund Art Center, Long Museum, Tank Shanghai, and many other significant art exhibition halls and renowned galleries. The Leo Gallery Xuhui Residency Space aims to provide creators with an urban anchor and a vibrant cultural perspective, connecting them with the dynamic pulse of the city and firsthand international cultural resources, while encouraging the exploration and expression of individual characteristics.

During the residency, we will provide artists with free studio and living spaces for a period of 2 to 6 months. If artists are interested in organizing forums, workshops, or other events, we will offer venues, manpower, and promotional support. Works completed during the art residency will have the opportunity to be featured in solo project exhibitions.
